Brandy Baird

Brandy Baird is a 2016 UCSC alumna with a B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. In the Lee Lab she investigates cross-interactions between the Alzheimer’s disease (AD) associated protein, A-beta, and a human antimicrobial peptide while also assisting in experiments that focus on the structural aspects of A-beta aggregation and AD pathology. Brandy works as a Staff Research Associate II in the UCSC Biology Teaching Labs where she helps organize and implement a large variety of laboratory courses. In the summer of 2016, she served as an advisor to the UCSC iGEM team, assisting undergraduates in the experimental design and execution of projects in synthetic biology. In addition to her passion for science, she enjoys traveling and being outdoors as often as she can. Brandy hopes to attend graduate school in the near future and to continue her involvement in the research community.
